The clarinetists and saxophonists have traditionally corrected the reeds with sandpaper, pumice stone, or with a file, and relatively rarely – with an abrasive glass plate.
Sandblasted glass plates “FedotovReeds” are recommended to be used to correct the bottom of your reeds.
f you want to improve air flow and reeds vibration without any negative consequences for the sound quality, please try to avoid grinding the reed bottom at the tip.
You can use an other reed to bend up the tip of the reed very slightly like this before grinding of the reed bottom side.
